If your teeth need straightening but you can't seem to forget those horrible teenage years spent with braces, you'll be happy to know that there is another solution. Invisalign is a unique product that employs the use of advanced 3D technologies in order to realign teeth "invisibly".
Using clear aligners, Invisalign has gained much recognition all over the world for fixing teeth alignment issues without anyone else having to know about it. Suitable for teens through to adults, Invisalign provides many benefits to those who decide to undergo the treatment.
The benefits of Invisalign
Often known incorrectly as "invisible braces", Invisalign teeth alignment is so much more. In fact, the product is not braces, but custom made clear aligners designed to gradually straighten your teeth. The main difference between Invisalign and braces is that the aligners can be removed for eating, brushing, flossing and special occasions. Aligners are also comfortable, unnoticeable and don't involve metal brackets or wires.
People suffering from crowded or spaced out teeth, as well as those suffering from overbites, underbites and crossbites can expect to see results with Invisalign after 12 to 18 months (note: some cases may take more time). Invisalign realigns teeth in a similar fashion to braces; that is, by applying controlled force to the teeth. Invisalign does, however, typically cost more than braces.
The Invisalign process: How does it work?
The first step when going ahead with Invisalign is to visit your dentist, who will take your bite impressions. Your data is then sent to Invisalign, who will create your aligners using the latest 3D computer technology.
When you receive your aligners, your dentist will brief you on hygiene practices and all the 'dos and don'ts'. Regular check ups with your dentist are necessary and you will also have to change your aligners every two weeks. Most will find their aligners comfortable and easy to maintain. Ensure that your dentist is Invisalign qualified before going ahead with the procedure.
